On Nov. 24, 2019 the esports club hosted a 12-hour charity stream to raise money for the extra life stream. “Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised over $50 million USD for sick and injured kids.” extra-life.org
Many students and gamers came to the WMU Esports arena to support this cause and even more tuned into the 12-hour stream over at twitch.tv/thewmuesports. The club held raffles and played several games and activities throughout the event. Over the course of their stream, they were able to hit their goal of $500 dollars.
Thank you to all the people who came to the event, tuned into the stream, and/or donated money to an amazing cause. While the goal has been met, it is still possible to donate to the cause.
